week 2: Learning Autonomy process

After reading the article “Effectiveness of the Integration of ICT Tools and Activities to Foster Awareness as the First Stage to Reach Learning Autonomy” My first view for this article was that it could be boring, but when I start to read I found some aspects that really like it of the use of ICT tools in the Learning Process.

First, I read how students develop their language proficiency in all of the skills of the Second Language.
Second, it is interesting to see a lot of authors in this article who is quoted, and that is important because this research means that is true; also, authors see that technology helps to grow student´s motivation and not only improves their proficiency, and it is important.

Finally, another aspect that teachers have to know and we have to take into account and provide good explanations and find some strategies to help and incentive to understand all topics and get interested about the progress of student. In conclusion, me as a students and as future teacher this article encourage me to do my best work, and help in different ways to my students in their progress and process as learners, and taking into account all the technological resources.

from 1 to 5 my scale is 5

  1. I agree with Monica; this article encourage teachers to use more technology to teach and leave students be more independent by practicing by their own. As teachers, we must be a guide for students learning and be there when they have a question but if we encourage students to practice by their own with online exercises they can have a better acquisition of the language.
Technology resources are there to help us as students to practice whenever we need it with different exercises or explanations and as future teachers we must use technology to encourage students to practice on their own and do not stay just with the 1 or 2 hour classes, students that practice on their own have a better acquisition of the language and it is easy to understand what the teacher explain on class, there are many resources and as teachers we always have look for better ways to teach.

  2. The points that Monica had mentioned about the reading are true because this article inspire teachers to use more technology to teach English or any other subject, and leave students be more autonomous by practicing with programs or applications by their own.
That researcher helps teacher to show them what the result were and how students reacted when they used the technology by their own. The autonomous that learners obtain during the learning process was amazing because even if the teacher is with students they learn how to finish or do their activities without help from the teacher.
To finish my comment, I have the same idea from Monica about activities which helps teachers and students in order to obtain important and significant results.

  3. Hello Monica. Your log is very interesting. What kind of strategies do you think a teacher should apply to help students? Could be more specific and tell us what strategies you mean here?

    2. Thanks for your answer. The three characteristics you mention- autonomy, profiency, and motivation- are the result of the application of strategies. The article explains about metacognitive strategies. What do you think these mean?
