After reading this week's articles "Benefits of Project Work in
Foreign Language Classrooms" by Bülent Alan and Fredricka L. Stoller and
"Seven Essentials for Project-Based Learning " by John Larmer and John
R. Mergendoller, I learned how we can motivate our students to learn a
second language through projects.
Both articles are very similar, they describe the steps that students
must follow to create a project, and they provide examples of how
project based learning has helped students to get very good results
while learning a language.
As a future
teacher, definitely I will use projects to promote the work as a team, in that
way, students would feel comfortable to face their challenges by helping their
classmates and themselves to understand their target language.
Hello Monica!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point PBL teaching method has helped in the student' learning process, and also it helps to create a comfortable environment while they are learning. So that, it encourages developing a collaborative work, critical thinking and communicative skills .PBL is the best method to allow students to focus on how and what they are learning; as a result, learners feel more engage in the lesson and they become more responsible in their homework assignments, and also in the class . There is no doubt about that as future teachers, we have to implement good strategies to trigger excellent problem-solving skills.
bye!
Take care!
